Alberta OER Summit 2017

Join us for a 1-day event to share and learn about Open Educational Resources! The event will be hosted at the University of Alberta and welcomes attendees of all backgrounds. We are working hard to arrange a stellar schedule including Alberta case studies, OER how-to, step-by-step adoption and adaptation toolkits and everything you need to know about open licensing and copyright. 


The 2017 Alberta OER Summit aims to: 

1. Provide professional development on adaptation, adoption and championship of OER

2. Connect provincial OER champions and develop the provincial Community of Practice 

3. Share Alberta OER case studies, successes and lessons learned 


Updates / Timeline:

  • February 1, 2017 - Alicia Lunz, Vice President Academic, Students' Union, University of Calgary booked as key note speaker 
  • January 18, 2017 - Sarah Forgie, MD, MEd, Vice-Provost (Learning Initiatives) at University of Alberta booked for opening remarks 
  • January 11, 2017 - Location booked at University of Alberta (donated by Faculty of Education, School of Library and Information Studies
  • December 12, 2016 - Planning Committee kick-off held with 18 members from across Alberta 
  • October 27, 2016 - Campus Alberta OER Initiative Steering Committee allocated budget to University of Alberta to plan 2017 Summit
